Day 1 establishes a strong scientific and conceptual foundation for understanding neurodiversity as natural human variation.

Participants will explore:

• Individuality, neurotypes, and biological diversity
• Genetics, epigenetics, prenatal and postnatal environments, and early attachment in brain development
• Medical and social models of disability and the social construction of difference
• The history and purpose of the DSM, including diagnostic change and its implications for neurodivergent people
• Neurodiversity as natural variation using biodiversity analogies
• Executive function and an overview of ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and related neurotypes
• Social norms, systemic barriers, strengths and challenges across neurotypes
• Guided reflection to integrate learning into professional contexts
