Step-by-Step Guide

At NeurodiverseLIFE, we understand that for neurodiverse individuals, unfamiliar processes can often be overwhelming and might even deter us from seeking help. That’s why we’re happy to walk you through the process, every step of the way.

To be eligible for Access to Work, you need to:

  • Have a disability or a physical or mental health condition which makes it difficult for you to do your job
  • Be 16 or over
  • Live in England, Scotland, or Wales (there’s a different system in Northern Ireland)

The application process for Access to Work involves:

  • Filling out an application form online
  • Providing details about your work situation (including your condition, and the type of help you think you will need)

You will be contacted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) who will conduct an assessment to determine what help you might be applicable for.

This will include:

  • A discussion with an Access to Work adviser
  • A workplace assessment to be conducted by a specialist (where applicable)

Following your Access to Work assessment, you will:

  • Receive a decision on whether you’re eligible for the program
  • Be informed about the type/s of support you will receive, and how to use it/them

If approved, you will:

  • Work with NeurodiverseLIFE to develop and agree upon a Coaching Care Plan
  • Use the funds for approved support services (such as coaching, etc.)
  • If you have been allocated funds for specialist equipment, it will be sourced separately

Following your Access to Work assessment, you will:

  • Have regular check-ins to review the effectiveness of the support being provided
  • Make any adjustments to your Coaching Care Plan as may be necessary
